Headlights
This year provided one situation that had never happened on previous cruises--we had to break ice at night. As the darkness began to fall, the bridge crew, in order to better see the ice ahead, turned on the icebreaking floodlights. I can only imagine what the polar bears thought (if there were any out on the ice.. we never saw any!) of this giant red and white creature with swiveling lights for eyes, smashing through the ice.
