Wildlife - Watching eagle
I made this image just as we were pulling away from the pier in Dutch Harbor, Unalaska Island. Bald eagles in the Aleutian Islands are about as common as seagulls on Cape Cod. It's easy to tell the tourists from the islanders, since we're the ones standing at the street corners gawking at these monstrous birds perched on every available outcrop.
This particular lone eagle bid us farewell from his perch on the pier floodlights. The green hillside of Mount Ballyhoo provided a somewhat mysterious backdrop, fading into mist at the top of the frame.
