Wildlife - Pacific Walruses on Floe

Creeping up on skittish wildlife is pretty tough in a 400 foot long icebreaker. In this rare occasion a close-knit herd, or "ugly," of walruses waited until the last possible moment to vacate their small ice floe. In this shot you can see a young, tuskless walrus sitting on top of the pile of much larger herd members.
