Scenic - Azure Melt Pond

This image is symbolic to me of the Arctic's purity and fragile beauty. It provides a stark contrast to the "dirty" melt pool in Image 9. Melt pools, or ponds, are formed as the sun heats ice floes and melts enough snow and ice to form small pools of water. In this image you can also see a small network of cracks forming in the bottom of the pool, caused by the impact of the Polar Star's bow.
